What's the difference between the 2018 Ford C-MAX Energi and 2018 Ford C-MAX Hybrid?

The 2018 Ford C-MAX is offered in two variants: the Energi and the Hybrid! Both run with a similar powertrain; however, the Energi has the ability to be plugged in and travel 19 miles on zero-emissions electric-only power!

What powertrain will I find under the hood of the 2018 Ford C-MAX?

Both C-MAX variants for 2018 contain the same engine: a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine paired with an electric motor. Together, these components generate 188 net hybrid system horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. The Energi contains a larger lithium-ion battery pack that contributes to its all-electric range. The C-MAX Hybrid's hybrid system doesn't require being plugged in since the whole system functions behind the scenes on its own. Both C-MAX models contain a gearless continuously variable automatic transmission for smooth driving and optimal fuel economy. As for fuel economy, the C-MAX Hybrid achieves 42 miles per gallon in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway, while the C-MAX Energi achieves 39 miles per gallon combined and 95 MPGe. For charge times on the Energi, with a 240-volt outlet, the recharge is estimated to only take 2.5 hours. On the typical 120-volt outlet, the Energi will recharge in about 7 hours.

What trim levels are available for the 2018 Ford C-MAX?

Both the 2018 Ford C-MAX Energi and C-MAX Hybrid are offered in two trim levels: SE and Titanium. Features do vary slightly between the two variants. Standard equipment in both SE trim levels includes a 4.2-inch central display screen, a leather-trimmed tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 6-speaker sound system, satellite radio, smartphone integration, Bluetooth, voice commands, a CD player, a 110-volt power outlet, a CD player, and a rearview camera. Energi Titanium models contain equipment such as foglights, a 10-way power front passenger seat, chrome exterior trim, rain-sensing wipers, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, push-button start, HD radio, a 9-speaker premium Sony audio system, rear parking sensors, heated outside mirrors with puddle lamps, foglights, heated front seats, and ambient lighting. Hybrid Titanium models provide standard equipment such as keyless entry and ignition, the premium Sony audio system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote start, heated mirrors and seats, automatic wipers, foglights, HD radio, and leather upholstery.
